Conspirare Children's Choir (soon to become Conspirare Youth Choirs) seeks two positions:
Director 2
Responsibilities
- Hours: Mondays 5:30-8:30 p.m. (Conspirare Kantorei and Conspirare Children's Choir)
- Rehearsal location: First Presbyterian Church (8001 Mesa Drive, Austin, 78741), Rissman Hall and Choir Room
- Assisting the Director as needed with set-up and break-down of rehearsal spaces, including stacking chairs, clean-up and locking the rehearsal facility
- Assisting the Desk monitor as needed with collection and distribution of paperwork, homework, memos
- Assisting the Director as needed with sectional rehearsals and warm-ups
- Working with the singers directly as needed during rehearsals (occasional small group or individual vocal instruction)
- Score study and preparation for each piece in the choir's repertoire
- Working with the Director and Assistant Director 3 in selecting programs
- Selection of 1/3 of choir's repertoire and responsibility for creating teaching plans, executing, and conducting that repertoire for performances
- Assisting the Director and Assistant Director 3 as needed before, during, and after performances: monitoring the singers, assisting with line-up, monitoring materials, dismissal/pick-up, etc.
- Assisting the CYC Administrator with uniform procedures (including measuring singers, helping them try on uniforms, handling paperwork, etc.)
- Experience, energy, and enthusiasm for working with youth aged 9-16
- Vocal pedagogy
- Piano skills preferred
- Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education or Vocal performance
- Previous experience in choral conducting of children's choirs
Director 3
Responsibilities
- Hours: Thursdays 6:30-9:00 p.m. (Conspirare Children's Choir)
- Rehearsal location: First Presbyterian Church (8001 Mesa Drive, Austin, 78741), Choir Room
- Assisting the Director and Intern as needed with set-up and break-down of rehearsal spaces, including stacking chairs, clean-up and locking the rehearsal facility
- Assisting the Intern as needed with collection and distribution of paperwork, homework, memos
- Assisting the Director as needed with sectional rehearsals and warm-ups
- Working with the singers directly as needed during rehearsals (occasional small group or individual vocal instruction)
- Score study and preparation for each piece in the choir's repertoire
- Working with the Director in selecting programs
- Assisting the Director, Assistant Director 2, and Intern as needed before, during, and after performances: monitoring the singers, assisting with line-up, monitoring materials, dismissal/pick-up, etc.
